Standing Rock Ranch has entered into the limited distance competitive endurance / trail world just this year. Cindy Wagner and Vicki Weiper, veterans with over 15 years of combined endurance experience, chose four perspective geldings from our herd and hit the road / trail. Training started in June and the team entered their first race 30 days later. All of the entries completed the course with the middle of the pack (fields ranged from 15 to 40+ riders). Since then each horse that has competed placed within the top 10 finishers with credits toward 1st and 2nd place in best condition. The region's competitions are rugged combinations of high plain deserts and the Rocky Mountain forested venues with all the accompanying hazards. Who said you can't glide ride in style to the tune of endurance and competitive trail?
