2007 Early Fall Scenic Trail Rides
The trail ride scheduled for September in the Shoshone National Forest between Cody, WY and Yellowstone Park has been canceled due to safety concerns.  Upon visiting the sites this past week it became very apparent that a combination of extreme dry conditions and a wide spread, high percentage of beetle killed trees has put the forest at risk for fires.  Riders in the area have reported trails being blocked by downed trees whenever gusts of wind pass through.  We do not feel that these conditions would help provide the quality experience we had expected.
2007 Carswell "Walk this Way" Clinic

The TWHBEA "Walk This Way" Tour, featuring Nicole Carswell, was held this past spring at Standing Rock Ranch.  Nearly 40 owners and riders of gaited horses participated in the two day clinic focusing on achieving the most out of themselves and their equine partners.  Subjects varied from ground handling, bits and their function, show techniques, to rein, leg, and seat aids.  Participants auditing or sitting out on a session were treated to a "ring side seat" in the center of the arena with Nicole.

Nicole Carswell's nearly 25 years of experience and leadership in the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry makes her a facinating and enlightened spokesperson and clinician for the breed.  Her knowledge and teaching ability were well accepted and applied by the riders.  Combine that with her quick wit and a good dose of southern charm and we were hooked.

Pictured are participants in the clinic and Nicole with Kay and John Gonitzke of Standing Rock Ranch.
